What Is Fence Painting?
Fence painting protects and restores the appearance of boundary and dividing fences by applying fresh paint, stain, or protective coatings to properly prepared fence surfaces. In Queensland's climate, timber fences require regular painting or staining to prevent moisture penetration, timber splitting, and UV degradation. Unpainted timber fence palings weather to a silver-grey, become increasingly porous, and can develop mould and rot that shortens their lifespan significantly. Painted or stained fences resist moisture, look well-maintained, and last considerably longer than unprotected timber. We also paint Colorbond, masonry, and brick fencing.
Our Fence Painting Process
- Fence Assessment
We inspect the fence for damaged or rotten palings, loose posts, rusted fixings, and the condition of any existing paint or stain — determining what preparation is required.
- Cleaning and Preparation
The fence is pressure washed and allowed to dry. Any loose or peeling paint is scraped and sanded. Damaged palings are replaced or repaired. Rusted nail heads are treated or countersunk.
- Priming
Bare timber sections and repaired areas are primed with exterior timber primer to ensure adhesion and seal the surface before topcoating.
- Paint or Stain Application
Exterior paint or penetrating stain is applied by brush or spray for full, even coverage — including board faces, edges, and post tops where moisture ingress is greatest.
- Second Coat and Inspection
A second coat is applied for complete protection and coverage. We inspect the finished fence and address any missed spots or runs before leaving the site.
