Landscape Design Consultation in South East Queensland

Residential consultations start from $650 and scale with block size and project scope. Estate packages for 600m²–1 acre blocks start from $1,500, and acreage master planning for 1+ acre properties starts from $3,500. All consultation fees are credited in full against construction for clients who proceed to build with us.

Many clients just need a few hours of expert guidance — where to plant what, what to remove, what materials would work. Others need a full concept plan with construction-ready documentation. We tailor the service to what your project actually requires.

Most estate projects we consult on involve established gardens with specimen trees, existing structures, or mature plantings worth retaining. We design around the bones of what's already there — preserving what's valuable and removing what's holding the space back.

An initial consultation takes 1–2 hours onsite. Concept development typically takes 1–2 weeks. For larger estate or acreage projects requiring detailed drawings and specifications, 3–6 weeks is realistic.

We provide both. A concept plan and written specification is sufficient for most projects. For estate and acreage clients, or where council approval or third-party builders are involved, we develop full construction-ready documentation including detailed drawings and specifications.

Yes. For all projects proceeding to construction with One Call Property Care, the full consultation fee is credited back against the build cost — so the design process costs you nothing extra.

Yes. Where council approval is needed — larger structures, earthworks, pool-related work, or works affecting heritage overlays — we coordinate the approval process as part of the project.

The design package is yours to use however you choose — hand it to other contractors, use it as a guide for staged DIY, or return to us to build it when budget allows. We design for your project, not our pipeline.

Acreage and estate design is a core part of what we do. We work across SE QLD's western corridor (Samford, Pullenvale, Brookfield), the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast hinterlands, and rural lifestyle properties in the Scenic Rim and Lockyer Valley. Large blocks require a fundamentally different approach to design — we're experienced in both intimate residential gardens and multi-acre estates.

A landscape architect holds a university degree and can certify certain structural designs. A landscape designer is experienced in practical garden and outdoor space design. For most residential and estate projects, a skilled landscape designer delivers everything you need — and for projects requiring engineering certification, we work alongside registered engineers.

Yes — we regularly collaborate with architects, builders and interior designers. We can work from architectural drawings, adapt to construction programme constraints, and coordinate with your existing consultants to ensure the landscape design integrates with the build rather than being added as an afterthought.

Yes. Heritage-listed and character properties require a considered approach — balancing contemporary living needs with the character of the place. We're experienced designing for Queensland heritage overlays and character zones, and we understand the approval pathways involved.

Absolutely. Existing features — whether a heritage jacaranda, a pool, or a tennis court — are often the starting point of a great design brief rather than an obstacle. We work with what's already on the site and design around it with intention.

We develop a master plan first — a whole-of-property vision — and then stage the construction sequence to suit your budget and timeline. This ensures every stage builds toward the completed design rather than being a standalone piece that may need to be undone later.

Yes — for larger landscaping projects we offer a landscape design consultation where we discuss your goals, style preferences, budget, and maintenance expectations before any work begins. We provide concept plans and staged project options so you know exactly what you're getting. For smaller jobs like turf installation or garden maintenance, detailed design isn't necessary and we'll discuss your preferences on-site.

In Queensland's climate, we most commonly install Sir Walter Buffalo (excellent shade tolerance, soft underfoot), Zoysia (fine leaf, great for high-traffic areas), Kikuyu (fast growing, drought tolerant, suits sunny yards), and Couch (excellent for sports and active families). The best choice depends on your sun exposure, soil type, drainage, and intended use. We'll recommend the right variety during your consultation.

New turf needs to be watered 2–3 times daily for the first 2 weeks to establish roots. After that, reduce to daily watering for week 3, then every 2–3 days from week 4. Your first mow should be around 3–4 weeks after installation when the grass is firmly rooted. We'll give you a full aftercare guide with every turf installation.

Yes — we build timber sleeper and concrete block retaining walls for residential and commercial properties. Properly engineered and installed timber sleeper walls last 20–30 years. Concrete block walls have an even longer lifespan. All our retaining walls over 1m high are engineered and comply with Queensland council requirements. We obtain any necessary permits as part of our service.

Yes — we offer ongoing garden maintenance plans that can be tailored after a landscaping project or for any existing garden. Weekly, fortnightly, or monthly visits covering lawn mowing, edging, weeding, pruning, mulching, and seasonal planting. A well-maintained garden looks dramatically better and the investment in landscaping lasts much longer with regular care.

Yes — poor drainage is a very common Queensland problem, especially after heavy rain. We provide drainage solutions including surface channel drains, agricultural drains, dry creek beds, and reshaping of ground levels to direct water away from homes and structures. Fixing drainage also dramatically improves lawn health and reduces mosquito breeding. We assess drainage as part of any landscaping consultation.

A full garden makeover for a standard residential property typically takes 2–5 days. This includes clearing, soil preparation, edging, planting, mulching, and lawn work. Larger projects with retaining walls, paving, or irrigation can take 1–3 weeks. We always provide a clear timeline before starting.

Yes — we design and install automatic irrigation systems for lawns, garden beds, and vegetable gardens. A properly designed irrigation system saves water (often more than a manual watering routine), ensures consistent coverage, and can dramatically improve lawn and garden health in Queensland's dry seasons. We offer both in-ground pop-up systems and drip irrigation for garden beds.

In Southeast Queensland, the cooler dry months of April–September are ideal for most landscaping work — planting new gardens, laying turf, building structures, and major soil work. Summer (November–March) is fine for maintenance and some planting but the wet season can affect concrete pours and some installations. We work year-round and will advise on timing during your consultation.

We handle smaller tree and shrub removal as part of landscaping projects. For larger tree removal or trees near structures and power lines, we coordinate with licensed arborists. Stump grinding can be arranged as part of any job. We'll be upfront about what we can handle in-house versus what requires a specialist.
