What Is Fixture Installation?
Fixture installation covers the broad category of items that need to be correctly and securely fixed to walls, ceilings, or floors — fixtures that seem simple but often require the right knowledge, tools, and technique for a safe and professional result. Common household fixtures include curtain rods and tracks, blinds and awnings, bathroom accessories (towel rails, toilet roll holders, hooks), mirrors and artwork, ceiling fans and light fittings (non-electrical work), shelving systems, outdoor furniture anchoring, mailboxes, doorbells, and garden feature installation. In Queensland homes, correctly identifying wall types, stud locations, and using the right fixings for each surface type is what distinguishes professional fixture installation from a DIY result that falls off the wall six months later.
Our Fixture Installation Process
- Assessment
We assess the installation location — wall type, stud locations, surface condition — and the fixture requirements (weight, fixing pattern, clearances) before selecting the appropriate fixings.
- Layout and Marking
Fixing locations are marked accurately — ensuring fixtures are level, symmetrically positioned, and in the correct position relative to the feature they serve (windows for curtain rods, plumbing for bathroom accessories, etc.).
- Fixing Preparation
Pilot holes are drilled at the appropriate size for the selected fixings — wall plugs for masonry, direct screwing into studs, or appropriate plasterboard anchors for between-stud locations.
- Installation
Fixtures are installed securely with appropriate fixings, checked for level and alignment, and tested for stability under the expected load.
- Cleanup
Drill dust and debris is cleaned up, all packaging is removed, and the installation is checked one final time before we leave.
